Marsh Industries, the leading UK provider of off-mains drainage products and keen supporter of local causes is giving back to the local community with the donation of a 120 person equivalent (PE) Ultra:Polylok sewage treatment plant to Betel UK.

Betel UK is a group of caring, not-for-profit Christian communities helping broken people recover their health, independence and self-respect. The 120PE sewage treatment plant was donated to provide wastewater treatment at a new facility in Calverton, Nottingham, providing sheltered accommodation for 48 people requiring a community based recovery from addiction.

Marsh industries managing director, Steve Boyer, said “I learned about this project from an old friend who used to work at Severn Trent Water; he was donating his time free of charge to the project and asked if they could purchase a sewage treatment plant at a competitive price. The more I learned about Betel UK and understood the needs of the people that they support, we immediately decided that we would donate the Ultra:Polylok sewage treatment plant plus side channel air blowers free of charge.”

“We are fortunate to be in a strong position to give something tangible back to local communities and I’m very proud to be supporting Betel UK”.

M.V. Kelly, specialists in infrastructure and civil engineering, completed the ground works and drainage system for the scheme at base resource cost. Managing Director, Paul Whelan, who met Betel Notts through their support for his family, showed his appreciation for everyone’s generosity; “The vast sewage treatment plant was supplied free of charge by Marsh Industries – more than £25K of clever tank! This will allow waste water from the new facility to be discharged in an environmentally friendly way.”

“My wife Karen is a Civil Engineer specialising in drainage design and, when we heard about Betel needing support for a new building, we offered her help immediately. We (M.V. Kelly) completed the ground works and drainage for the scheme at base resource cost.”

“The generous support provided from everyone involved in the project will be life changing for the men, women and families of those using the new facility.”
